June 10, 20251. Relationship with the shelter: Alyssa reports positive experiences at the shelter the past two weeks.
2. Signs – Alyssa consulted with Phil and learned that the spay/neuter vouchers from the Community Grant are almost depleted. He asked that we wait until October to post signs advertising the spay/neuter vouchers to ensure that they receive more grant money in new fiscal year.
3. Approval for adoption events: Alyssa reported that Phil is on board with adoption events. He has the annual adoption event planned at Tractor Supply for the fall and mentioned opening on a Saturday. Members also suggested adoption events during Frog Level and The Art’s Festival.
4. Possible adoption events at pet stores in Tuscaloosa:
* Pet Supplies Plus big ok – Alyssa reports that the manager was eager to the idea.
* PetSmart store manager already has a partnership with another animal welfare organization but will ask about assisting us.
* Steve reminded team that Columbus, MS PetSmart also mentioned partnering with FOTAS with pet adoptions. Alyssa will call/follow up.
5. Cashapp and Venmo set up – we can now post the tags and print QR codes to use at events: Steve also has set up FOTAS website for credit/debit card payments.
6. T-shirts: Alyssa explained primary purpose as marketing FOTAS and the animal
shelter.
* estimated cost between $16 – $18 per shirt and sell for $25
* Pocketed shirts sell for $27.
7. RC&;D Grant – $5k-$10k: Alyssa is working on an application for a RC&;D grant due by June 30. FOTAS also plans to apply for local Community Grant. Members agreed to deposit any grant money obtained into FOTAS account to use for animal
welfare projects related to the shelter &/or community.
8. Ask local stores for their throw away pet items: Alyssa has set up a Spart account with Wal-Mart for their discarded pet goods to be donated to the animal shelter. She also plans to talk to Tractor Supply.
9. Boost posts on Facebook? Members agreed that “boosting” some FB post would be beneficial considering it reaches 1000 extra people for only $20.
10. Benefit ride for the shelter animals: Alyssa has made a request to Iron Angels biker group to consider a benefit ride on behalf of the animal shelter. Durel also plans to contact Widow Sons bike group to discuss a benefit ride as well.Financial balances:

Members agreed to review MSU report from their visit last month and develop a strategic plan before presenting results and/or proposals to the County Commission. Steve attended Main Street community meeting today. Ideas were discussed regarding local growth and improvements. Steve proposed FOTAS events:
* Yappy Hours
* Dog Show
* Pictures with Santa
* Halloween
Callie’s Place Rescue: Alyssa suggested, and members agreed, to ask founder of Callie’s Place to speak at a FOTAS meeting. Alyssa explained that the founder is the Human Resource Director at Showa.City Council candidate Felix Caine was present and commended FOTAS’ efforts. He also expressed his support of FOTAS and emphasized the importance of community service.
