Welcome and Introductions: several new members joined tonight’s meeting: Rita
Meadows (Alyssa’s mother), Matthew Rawls, Abigail, Beth, Hannah, Emma and Polly
??, Polly Watts, Belinda Watts
Report on the Animal Shelter as of 10:30 am: 1 adult cat and 1 kitten, 20 puppies and
8 adult dogs

Report on visit from MSU Shelter Vet Medicine team on Friday, May 9: 15
members of MSU Shelter Medicine Department visited our shelter last week. Their
formal report with recommendations is expected within 4 weeks. While on-site they did
mention the drainage issue, concrete not being sealed every 3 years, cleanliness.Members agreed to request presentation of findings at a future Commissioners Meeting.
Members plan to use MSU’s findings and the current state of the County financial situation as opportunity for FOTAS to be more involved at the shelter.

Newman and Kim Dodson were successful in getting 7 shelter doggies adopted and $237.44 donated to FOTAS.Report on meeting with new County Administrator, Nancy Hodges: Vicki, Alyssa and Jane met with new County Administrator yesterday. Vicki reported that Mrs. Hodges is eager to have FOTAS help market spaying/neutering and members are optimistic and eager to work with Mrs. Hodges on local animal welfare issues.
County Commissioners’ Meeting. Attending: Vicki and Steve Fowler, Toni Robertson, Durel Landry, Kim Dodson, Belinda Watts learned of the misappropriation of $800k and financial challenges facing this fiscal year.
Election of officers – Proposed Slate:
Alyssa Stutts, President
Jackie Stevens, Vice President
Kim Dodson, Secretary
Durel Landry, Treasurer Laurie Newman, Membership Chair Steve Fowler, PR Chair2
Vicki Fowler will remain on Board as Immediate Past President. Other Board members
may be added at the new president’s discretion for special projects (Spay and Neuter
Education/awareness, Fund Raising, Legislative, etc)

Other Business: Members mentioned marketing ideas: Partnering with Big Juicy and her millions of FB followers
Recruiting BSCC students/volunteers
Question posed whether or not the Health Dept survey’s the animal shelter. Findings will be reported at next meeting.Adjourned at 6:37pm
