Memorial Day NO Shelter Pet “Fun Day” Monday May 26
May 26 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Fayette Friends of the Animal Shelter fully recognizes and respects that official holidays are observed by government agencies that do not provide essential services, such as fire and police departments. The weekend/holiday staff member at the Shelter does their job well but pets are stressed in the Shelter and more human contact and exercise is helpful.
We have asked to have our days and hours expanded but it is especially important that pets get more attention than is possible, with current policies and funding, on weekends and holidays. We continue to ask Fayette County officials to permit us to give pets more of the attention they need and desire on weekends and holidays.
We respectfully ask that our experienced volunteers be allowed to visit the pets on weekends and holidays. When we are at the Shelter we have the capability to give baths, assess pets for sickness and we can let them play outside longer.
We also want to be able to facilitate adoptions on some Saturdays when more people have time to visit the Shelter. Ask your Fayette County Councilperson to approve our requests for the convenience of our citizens and the good of the pets in the Shelter.
