on behalf of this group’s interests.

please see Jane Newman if you would like to order a T-shirt. Vicki has ordered a case of mugs (36/each). Costs $4/each will sell for $5-
$6/each and will also be gifted to supporters of the group. Mr. Freeman and Mrs. Toni agreed to advertise on the Frisbees to help absorb
some of the cost. 200 Frisbees will cost approximately $250-$300. These will be
distributed at local high school football games.Social Media Report – Steve explained to new members that the website and FB page
have been successful when the “at risk” pets who are about to time out of the shelter
are featured. He stressed the importance of SHARING posts. Currently have 668followers. Vicki added the importance of Registering online for the shelter days. She
explained that it is beneficial to know if/when volunteers are needed.Fall Art Festival, Kim Dodson to chair – the Arts Festival Committee is meeting Monday.
We will be notified about availability and bylaws for a booth. The plan is to present
pictures of current pets available at the shelter, as well as, a little goodie bag with dog
treats and a FOTAS business card and possibly display a donation box.
Frog Level, need a chair – tabled for next meetingIdeas/suggestions for volunteers who can’t do pet welfare days at the shelter:
1) Helping with two local festivals which are Saturday events
2) Putting notices in paper
3) Calling in to radio, Durel has volunteered
4) Calling nearby shelters for information
5) “trolling” friends on FB who post information on animals to ask them to follow our FB
page as a way to increase number of followers
Other Business:
Destiny explained that she was a dog trainer and would offer a discount to those
who adopted a shelter dog. She also thought it would be beneficial for those
adopting pets to know that it usually takes a pet 5 weeks to get acclimated to
their new home. Hopefully this education will prevent pets from being returned to
shelter. Destiny also has experience with marketing pet welfare events and
volunteered to help organize events. Vicki spoke to Dr. Kimbrell about spaying/neutering and explained pet owners
may be more responsible if “they had skin in the game”. Recommendation was
made to ask owner to pay 25% of the procedure and FOTAS to pay 75%.
Is meeting time convenient? Would a later time be more suitable? No objections to
leaving meeting schedule as is.
Adjourned at 6:29 pm
Next meeting September 10 5:30 Civic Center
