400 followers and over 4000 views. He stressed that SHARING the link is important for
exposure. Mr. Freeman explained that he found out about FOTAS from the signs
announcing the meeting. Steve asked that everyone respond to email requests.
Volunteer Sign Up Discussion with Sign Up Sheets/Car Show and Saturday Sign
Ups: Vicki encouraged everyone to sign up to spend some time at the animal shelter
&/or the car show. She reminded everyone that a Waiver must be signed and notarized
prior to volunteering.
New Business: Members discussed providing dog and cat food to the Christian Center
of Concern. Mrs. Toni will follow up with Center’s Director.
Other Business:
Marketing: Mr. Freeman presented a Frisbee from another animal shelter and
suggested using these as a marketing tool. He also presented a t-shirt featuring
another charity on the front of the shirt and a list of sponsors on the back. Members
agreed both would be good marketing ideas. The Fowlers explained that Carl Jr’s new
parents own a printing service and offered to help FOTAS with marketing materials.
Steve added that airplane rides to UA stadium and the Fayette area would be offered as
another fund raiser with 100% of the proceeds going to FOTAS.2
Fostering: Donna offered to foster an older dog and tend to her needs to prevent her
from timing out of the shelter. Steve will feature this doggie on social media.
Ice Cream Social: Vicki thanked members who attended Sunday’s Ice Cream Social
and members expressed interest in planning future social events. Steve added that Dr.
Mark Brown, retired veterinarian attended Sunday’s social and had a lot of valuable
information regarding strategies for spay/neutering with rabies vaccines. Steve
explained that mistreating, abandoning, failing to provide a proper home, chaining and
failing to vaccinate pets from rabies were all crimes in Alabama and these offenses
should be reported to law enforcement and complaints filed to initiate action and
improvement in animals’ lives.
